The war epic "The Sacrifice," in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to help in the what is known in China as the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. Jin Gang Chuan is the next highly anticipated film from Chinese director Guan Hu following his recent success with war epic The Eight Hundred. Jin gang chuan, had its premiere on October 23, 2020 and grossed $53.3 million in China in the first weekend. Apart from that, it premiered in Hong Kong on 20th November 2020 and grossed $46 million in the first weekend. Altogether it grossed a total of $170.9 million and became the 10th highest-grossing film of 2020.
09. Birds of Prey (2020 film)
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a 2020 American superhero film based on the DC Comics team the Birds of Prey. It stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor. The film follows Harley Quinn, after breaking up with the Joker, joining forces with Helena Bertinelli, Dinah Lance, and Renee Montoya to save Cassandra Cain from Gotham City crime lord Roman Sionis, forming the Birds of Prey altogether.
Birds of Prey, had its world premiere on January 25, 2020, Birds of Prey grossed $84.2 million in the United States and Canada, and $117.7 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $201.9 million and became the ninth highest-grossing film of 2020. In other territories, the film was expected to debut to $60–70 million from 76 countries, for a worldwide total of $110–125 million. It made $7.8 million after two days of overseas release in 51 countries and $18.1 million from the full 76 after three. The film went on to make $46 million from international play in its opening weekend, and $79 million worldwide. Its highest-grossing territories were Mexico ($4.6 million), Russia ($4 million), the United Kingdom ($3.9 million), Brazil ($2.8 million) and France ($2.7 million).
08. Jiang Ziya (film)
Jiang Ziya is a 2020 Chinese 3D computer-animated fantasy adventure film directed by Cheng Teng and Li Wei. Featuring the mythological and fictional version of the popular Chinese figure Jiang Ziya, the plot is loosely based on the novel Investiture of the Gods by Xu Zhonglin. It is a follow-up to 2019's Ne Zha and the second installment of the Fengshen Cinematic Universe.
The release date of Jiang Ziya was on 1 October 2020. In China, pre-sale tickets totaled up to US$13.3 million. In just eight hours since its release, the film has grossed a total of US$43.7 million. The box office performance in its first day of release surpassed that of its predecessor film, Ne Zha US$21.2 million by the record of US$ 45.4 million. Jiang Ziya grossed altogether for a worldwide total of $243.8 million and became the eighth highest-grossing film of 2020
07. Dolittle (film)
Dolittle is a 2020 American fantasy adventure film directed by Stephen Gaghan from a screenplay by Gaghan, Dan Gregor, and Doug Mand, based on a story by Thomas Shepherd. A reboot of the original 1967 Doctor Dolittle film and its Eddie Murphy counterparts, Dolittle is based on the title character created by Hugh Lofting and is primarily inspired by the author's second Doctor Dolittle book, The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle in 1922.
Universal Pictures theatrically released Dolittle in the United States on January 17, 2020. Dolittle grossed $77 million in the United States and Canada, and $173.9 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $250.9 million, against a production budget of $175 million. After months of delays, the film was released in China on July 24, and made $5.2 million from about 3,000 screens in its opening weekend. By August 6, the film had reached $14.6 million in grosses in the country. The film grossed $250 million worldwide and became the seventh highest-grossing film of 2020.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train , also known as Demon Slayer: Mugen Train or Demon Slayer: Infinity Train, is a 2020 Japanese animated period action film, based on the shōnen manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotōge. The film was released on October 16, 2020 Upon release, the film broke the first-day record with $11.3 million. On its opening weekend, it grossed $44 million in Japan. It was the best three-day opening weekend ever in Japanese theaters, and the top-grossing film worldwide for the weekend, despite several safety measures adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film grossed $265 million in 45 days, and sold more than 21,525,216 tickets to earn $277,422,868 in 52 days as of 6 December 2020.
In Japan, with widespread success, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film of 2020, the second highest-grossing film ever in Japan, one of the highest-grossing anime films ever, the highest-grossing animated film of 2020 and the world's sixth highest-grossing film of 2020 by making $298 Million altogether worldwide.
05. Sonic the Hedgehog (film)
Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2020 action-adventure comedy film based on the video game franchise of the same name published by Sega. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler in his feature directorial debut and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. It stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik, as well as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Neal McDonough. In the film, Sonic teams up with local town sheriff Tom Wachowski to find his lost rings and escape Dr. Robotnik.
Sonic the Hedgehog premiered at the Paramount Pictures studio lot on January 25, 2020, and was theatrically released in the United States on February 14, 2020. The film set the record for the biggest opening weekend for a video game film in the United States and Canada. It grossed over $320 million worldwide, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of 2020 and the highest-grossing video game film adaptation of all time in North America. A sequel is scheduled for release on April 8, 2022.

Tenet is a 2020 science fiction action-thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, who produced it with Emma Thomas. It stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh. The plot follows a secret agent in Washington as he manipulates the flow of time to prevent World War III.

As of December 6, 2020, Tenet has grossed $57.6 million in the United States and Canada, and $302.3 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $359.9 million with a production budget of $200 million. It was the first Hollywood tent-pole to open in theaters after the pandemic shutdown, and became the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2020.
03. Bad Boys for Life
Bad Boys for Life is a 2020 American action comedy film that is the sequel to Bad Boys II (2003) and the third installment in the Bad Boys trilogy. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their starring roles in the film, which is directed by Adil & Bilall and written by Chris Bremner, Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan.
Bad Boys for Life was theatrically released in the United States on January 17, 2020. The box office performance of this film was affected by movie theaters closures in mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. After the easing of initial restrictions, the film was released in three Santikos Theatres locations in San Antonio, Texas on May 1, 2020. After a long delay, the film was released in China on August 14, and made $3.2 million in its first weekend. Bad Boys for Life grossed $204.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $220.2 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $424.6 million, against a production budget of $90 million. It is both the highest-grossing film in the Bad Boys franchise and the highest-grossing film released in January. The film received generally positive reviews and became it the third highest-grossing film of 2020 and the highest-grossing Western film of 2020. It is also the highest-grossing installment of the series and the biggest January release of all-time.

My People, My Homeland is a 2020 Chinese anthology film consisting of 5 short stories, produced by Zhang Yimou and directed by several different directors, following the success of the 2019 film, My People, My Country. My People, My Homeland, had its premiere on August, 2020 in Australia and grossed $126.3 million in first weekend. In China it released on October 2020 and in the first weekend it grossed $120 million. Altogether it grossed a total of $432 million and became the 2nd highest-grossing film of 2020.

The Eight Hundred is a 2020 Chinese historical war drama film directed by and co-written by Guan Hu, and starring Huang Zhizhong, Oho Ou, Jiang Wu, Zhang Yi, Wang Qianyuan, Du Chun, Vision Wei, Li Chen, Yu Haoming, Tang Yixin, and Zheng Kai. The film is about the Defense of Sihang Warehouse in 1937 Shanghai during the Battle of Shanghai and the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Previews of the film were screened on Friday 14 August, making $2.1 million. It made $40 million on its official opening day. It went on to gross a total of $116 million (RMB 803.2) in its opening weekend, the biggest debut of 2020 up to that point. As of September 13, 2020, The Eight Hundred had grossed more in a single territory than any other 2020 release, having made $366 million in China. The film became a critical and commercial success upon its release, grossing $468 million worldwide, which made it the highest-grossing film of 2020. The Eight Hundred, a Chinese film, became the first ever non-Hollywood film production to become the highest-grossing film of the year. In previous years, the highest-grossing film of the year was always a Hollywood production. This record has been largely attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
